In yet another installment of “Why haven’t we talked about this on the podcast yet??”, I have Dr. Matt Zakreski here to dive into neurodiversity-affirming assessment practices. Matt draws from years of experience and hundreds of speaking engagements on this topic during this conversation. Perhaps most importantly, he makes it okay to not have all the answers and to keep getting better in this area of practice. These are a few other topics that we tackle:

  • Definitions of neurodiversity and neurodiversity-affirming
  • Statistics on neurodiversity in our country right now
  • Testing-specific practices to be more affirming, all the way from website design to report-writing

  1. Jeremy,
Thank you for your dedication and hard work related to The Testing Psychologist practice that you have developed. I really enjoyed the current presentation on Neurodiversity-Affirming Assessment, and feel this was a much-needed discussion around assessment and work with neurodiverse populations. I am in the later stage of my career (30+ years following licensure) and your podcast has prompted me to want schedule an initial meeting with you, and possibly consult with you around developing later career innovations in my practice of psychology. I am wanting to continue doing what I love to do at this stage of my career, in working with children/adolescents/young adults, and particularly within the assessment aspects of my practice. Thank you, again, in facilitating today’s discussion, and I will schedule an initial call to see if you might be able to help me in navigating this next phase of my career.

    Best, Gary
