We’ve talked frequently about dyslexia and other reading issues on the podcast, but what about dyscalculia and math learning disorders? Aside from one episode on the neuropsychology of math disorders, the podcast has followed research and popular culture in not giving much attention to math concerns. That’s why I’m so grateful to have Adrianne Meldrum, founder of Made for Math, on the show today. We talk about math disorders in general but spend the majority of our time on intervention. These are just a few topics we cover:
- Different subtypes of math learning issues
- The differences between “big box” intervention and 1:1 intervention
- Core components of successful math intervention
- Specific interventions for different types of math concerns
Cool Things Mentioned
- The Testing Psychologist mastermind groups and business consulting
- Sold a Story podcast on math
- Feifer Assessment of Mathematics
- Document on different interventions for different types of math issues
- Mathematics for Dyslexics and Dyscalculics book
- Effective Teaching Strategies for Mathematics
