Our country’s population of older adults is growing by the day, with the percentage of individuals over 65 increasing from about 18% today to about 23% over the next 20-30 years. Working with older adults can be incredibly gratifying, and, there are some nuances to specializing with this population. Dr. Seda Terzyan is my guest today, and we’re talking all about working with older adults. While we spend some of our time on the clinical aspects of this work, we dedicate most of the interview to how Seda designed her practice for this population. Here are a few topics that we cover:
- The importance of neurologists and other physicians as referral sources
- Environmental choices that benefit older adults
- Whether to take insurance or not
- Picking good clinicians to work with older adults
