Back in the fall, I had the privilege to take a 6-week continuing education class on assessment and treatment of intellectual disability and associated comorbidities. Dr. Jessica Robb-Mazzant presented on the intersection of intellectual disability and ADHD for the class, and I knew that this topic would be perfect for the podcast. She’s here to chat with me about the overlap of these diagnoses, as well as recommended assessment methods. Here are a few topics that we touch on:
- Prevalence of ID and ADHD
- Diagnostic overshadowing and misattribution of symptoms
- Medication response when ADHD is present along with ID
- Variations in assessment when ADHD is a consideration, along with Jessica’s preferred batteries
