Accounting is our topic for today. Short story: do it. You need an accountant, even if you don’t meet with that person very often. At the least, you need some accounting software. Quickbooks is a great, cheap choice. Even if you’re accounting-averse, it will help you compare year-to-year and know if you’re growing, plateauing, or losing money. Just do it.

I’m a licensed psychologist and Clinical Director at the Colorado Center for Assessment & Counseling, a private practice that I founded in 2009 and grew to include nine licensed clinicians, three clinicians in training, and a full administrative staff.
