Dr. Jeremy Sharp (00:00)
Hello, welcome back everybody. It has been a while since I’ve talked to y’all. So I essentially took the entire month of January off to work on some other pretty big projects, but I am really excited to be back with you. And today’s episode is a little bit of a catch up, I suppose. A little bit of an update on what’s been happening in the testing psychologist world and a look at what’s coming in the next several months.

So I’m glad to be back and I’m excited to dive in and let you know what’s been going on and where we’re headed over the next few months. So let’s just go ahead and jump to it.

Dr. Jeremy Sharp (00:43)
All right, folks, we are back. And like I said at the beginning, this is just a little bit of a check-in episode since I’ve been gone for a while. feel like it’d be helpful to just touch base and honestly help me reorient myself. Usually the podcast is such a big part of my life that it has been a little bit strange, honestly, to be out of the game for the past month or so. like I said in the beginning, you know, there have been several

Big undertakings and projects I think over the last four to six weeks that have occupied a lot of my time some of these you may have seen some Probably not so on the personal side. That’s probably the most important We took a really nice like meaningful trip back to visit my family for Christmas So my family lives in South Carolina. I live in Colorado and we have not been back to spend Christmas with them in gosh

Close to 15 years, we stopped traveling when our kids were really little, because it was frankly just a huge pain in the ass. And we didn’t want to drag toddlers and strollers and car seats through the airport. And so we stopped, but we went back for Christmas, spent Christmas with my family. And it was really meaningful. My parents, as I mentioned, are getting older and the reality is just

Time is short and it was fantastic to be able to spend some time with them during a big event like Christmas. And it got me thinking that they have not had ⁓ kids in their home on a Christmas morning in close to 30 years probably. So this was really cool. And got to hang with them and kids got to play with their cousins and that sort of thing. So just a…

I guess, reminder that if you are putting off anything like that, there really is no time like the present. It’s very true. And it makes me think about the main message from my opening speech at Crafted Practice last year. Folks who attended will recognize this. The headline was Later Equals Never. And the idea there is that if you’re thinking about doing something and you say, I can do that later,

majority of the time, it’s just not gonna happen. if you’re thinking about something like that, reconnecting a family or doing something that you’ve been putting off, I’d say just go for it. So related to that, took, I genuinely took two weeks off over Christmas break, which was amazing and something that I always aspire to, but it doesn’t ever seem to work out exactly that way. I always end up doing something. And so this year was different. I was able to take two solid weeks off and it was…

awesome. And when I did get back, it was a chosen return to work instead of ⁓ mandatory, I guess, or forced return to work. So that was huge. That was huge. I got to spend a lot of great time with my kiddos and my wife. And it was really, it was a nice break. But then once I came back in January, things were pretty intense. And so there were a few projects that

All kind of happened at once that are now thankfully wrapping up. But just to give you an idea of what was happening, ⁓ the biggest thing probably was launching this new membership community called Craft. So if you’re on my email list, you saw all the material related to that. And essentially what I decided to do is move all of my one-on-one and small group mastermind consulting

and paperwork, resources, spreadsheets, all the stuff that I previously sold a la cart, decided to move that into a membership community model called Craft. And I spent a lot of time in January with the launch of Craft. So building all that out, building out the backend with the help of my amazing assistant, Laura, ⁓ setting up the automations and the…

sales pages, you know, all that stuff, but also just crafting the content for the membership. And so you probably heard through, heard about this, but the idea with moving to a membership platform is that, you know, I think a lot of folks listen to the podcast or hang out in the Facebook group and there are a ton of ideas out there. We accumulate ideas. I accumulate ideas myself. And what I was going for is

creating a place where folks can actually come together and take those ideas and move into some sort of action or implementation or accountability. And honestly, just bring people together who wanted to do that in a little more of an intimate environment, you know, instead of ⁓ like the massive Facebook group that a lot of us are a part of, right? There are, gosh, nearly 18,000 people in there at this point, which is really cool. Like it’s a good resource in its own right. And…

moving everything into this membership community that was meant to ⁓ bring a smaller group of folks together who really want to connect and have some accountability and work together to put some ideas into practice. So that went super well. We’ve launched, there are gosh, over 70 folks in the membership at this point from the initial launch, which is awesome. We’ve had our

first couple live Q and A calls and co-working time calls. And it’s been really cool. learning and like starting to get to know people and there’s some familiar faces and some new faces and just seeing the connection within the craft community is great. We have a Facebook like community with a message board where you can post and get answers to your questions and support and that kind of thing. So that was super cool.

That took a lot of my time though. And, you know, obviously I was very excited about it, but it was a lot. So our enrollment closed in late January and next enrollment is open over the summer. So I think I’m going to do like two enrollment periods each year. And yeah, if you’re interested in that, of course you can get more info. I think it’s the testingpsychologist.com slash join craft and you can get some info and you know, sign up for the wait list.

over the summer. The other big thing that I was working on, one of the other big things, is building out the launch for Crafted Practice, which is my annual in-person event, which takes place every summer. So finalizing the dates on that, again, updating the website, building out the registration, thinking about content and schedule and all of that. So if that is something you’re interested in, there is also a wait list, or an interest list, rather.

and you’ll be notified when registration goes live. should be opening up, gosh, thinking about the release of this episode, should be opening up in the next couple of weeks for general registration for non-returning attendees. So be on the lookout for that. The dates are July 26 through July 30. And it’s been an amazing experience over the last couple of years, just, or three years, I suppose, with folks coming together. It’s 20 people, super close.

We do small group coaching, masterminding, we work on things together. There’s some downtime, people go to the spa, they get massages. We go to dinners and happy hours. It’s so, so fun. And I think an awesome experience for most folks to kind of level up your practice and most importantly, just like make some really strong connections with people who are doing what you do. again, be on the lookout if that sounds interesting to you. Registration is going to be opening.

in the next couple of weeks. What else is going on? ⁓ gosh, yeah. mean, on the podcast side, I am hiring a production and research assistant, which is absolutely thrilling to me at this point. ⁓ So full disclosure, I have struggled, especially in recent months, like over the past six to 12 months, with just keeping the interview calendar full. And a big part of that is just working on other projects and not having the time that I need.

And so I feel like I’ve been scrambling a bit to get interviews booked. two things with that. One, if you’re an expert out there and you see a gap in the knowledge and you want to come on the podcast, please reach out to me, Jeremy, at thetestingpsychologist.com. But the other thing is that I have hired a production and research assistant. And I’m really excited to bring this person on.

They’re going to help with guest vetting and scheduling and research and episode prep and that kind of thing. And let me see. I actually, I don’t want to misspeak. haven’t actually hired someone yet, but I hope to by the time this is released. So, so that’s in the queue as well. ⁓ Gosh y’all. The other big thing I think is probably launching Reverb 2.0. So many of you know, I’m a co-founder of an AI report writing platform.

reverb and we launched a huge, huge update, like a rewrite of our entire software platform. We launched that in mid January. It’s getting great feedback so far. ⁓ So that of course took up some time as well. So this is what I do. I’m just reflecting, you know, here live in the moment. This is what I do. I tend to take on a lot and go through like pretty heavy sprints and then pull back a bit and, you know, chill for.

a months and that has happened again, but it took me out of the podcast game for, you know, basically the month of January and a little bit of February as well. So all that to say, I am glad to be back here with you. I’m looking forward to getting some interviews on the calendar, more interviews on the calendar. We have some great guests coming up and, uh, you know, we’ll be seeing those episodes over the next few weeks. But in the meantime, uh, consider this maybe a call to action for

you know, 2026. So, you know, if you’ve been a long time listener, maybe this is the year to, to make some movements, um, join the membership community, uh, consider coming to the in-person event over the summer. Um, or just reach out, let me know what you’re working on. I love to hear from folks. Let me know what you want to hear on the podcast. It’s, it’s an open call. I just like to connect with folks who are out there and hear what’s going on and start to build those relationships.

So I look forward to joining you, I think, more often and just getting back to the regular schedule of usually do about six episodes a month. We’ll do clinical content on Mondays and business content on Thursdays with, like I said, a lot of great guests coming up. So in the meantime, as always, happy testing.
