For many of us, hiring a psychometrist is the first venture into expanding our practices. Hiring a psychometrist is an easy way to learn what it’s like to turn over some control to another person, yet still maintain significant influence over how that person conducts themselves. I’ll spend some time today talking about why you’d want to hire a psychometrist, then transition into where to actually find that individual, and finally talk a bit about how to vet a psychometrist. This episode is for all of you who want to take the leap but haven’t been able to find the right person.

About Dr. Jeremy Sharp

I’m a licensed psychologist and Clinical Director at the Colorado Center for Assessment & Counseling, a private practice that I founded in 2009 and grew to include 12 licensed clinicians, three clinicians in training, and a full administrative staff. I earned my undergraduate degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina before getting my Master’s and PhD in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University. These days, I specialize in psychological and neuropsychological evaluation with kids and adolescents.

As the host of the Testing Psychologist Podcast, I provide private practice consulting for psychologists and other mental health professionals who want to start or grow psychological testing services in their practices. I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with my wife (also a therapist) and two young kids.

  1. I am a trained psychometrist, from a mental health hospital. I am having a hard time finding people who would like to use my skills. Do you know where psychometrist could connect with psychologists.

  2. Jeremy–

I’m completing my 2000 apprenticeship hours (I have a master’s degree) under a licensed psychologist in preparation for being qualified to sit for the February 2023 psychometrician certifying exam. Not finding any listings of private practices looking for a psychometrician (your link for job board is n/a). Wondering whether that is something you’d like to set up, the idea being that this website could be the go-to for practices looking either to share a psychometrician or a psychometrician advertising to pick up .25 and .50 time jobs from several practices.
